Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training
Mental Health First Aid is the initial help offered to a person developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate treatment and support are received or until the crisis resolves. MHFA training participants learn about prevalence, risk factors, warning signs of mental health challenges and a 5-step action plan to help in both crisis and non-crisis situations. 

Delivery options 

In-Person: 8 hours of instruction
Virtual: 2 hour self-pace course + 5.5 hours virtual instruction

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Training
Youth Mental Health First Aid Training is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human service workers, and other caring adults how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or crisis. YMHFA participants learn about common mental health challenges for youth, typical adolescent development, and a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in crisis and non-crisis situations. ​

Delivery options
In-Person: 6.5 hours of instruction
Virtual: 2 hour self-pace course + 4.5 hours virtual instruction

Teen Mental Health First Aid Training
Teen Mental Health First Aid teaches high school students how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health or substance-use challenges in their friends and peers.

Delivery options
In-Person: 6 45-minute sessions

Question, Persuade, Refer Training 
Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) are the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.   
QPR is the most widely taught Gatekeeper training in the world. 

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:
  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life.

Integrating Principles of Trauma-Informed Care into Your Training Methods
As trainers in public health education, we have the opportunity to create a training environment that supports the physical, psychological and emotional safety of participants. By deconstructing the six principles of Trauma Informed Care, trainers will learn new strategies, revise existing teaching methodology and improve overall engagement. 

Delivery options
Customizable 2-4 hour in-person or virtual training experience. 

Coaching

Group and individual coaching services are available for trainers of public health programming.  Coaching services are centered around individual strengths and identified areas of growth. Through self-reflection activities, group and/or individual feedback, and demonstrations, trainers will learn strategies to improve their presentation and facilitation skills, respond to participant questions and comments, and increase confidence.

Customizable in-person or virtual experience

Curriculum Development

Curriculum development services are available for colleges, universities and organizations to improve current public health-related curriculum or develop new curriculum and training programs. Curriculum development consulting may include increasing the use of creative instructional strategies, strengthening adult learning theory strategies, developing content with subject matter experts, developing train-the-trainer materials, and providing in-depth instruction on facilitating the curriculum.
